Expostory Essay

Certain events in life marks the beginning of maturity. In the novel "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak the protagonist grows and matures through certain events. The death of her brother is a signficant event, discovering books and living in Germany with her new family.

The obstacles in life are challenging but can be overcome. For Liesel Meigmer her journey of hardship starts on the train ride to her new home, her brother dies on the way and is buried in a unknown town to Liesel. This is a tragic experience but it is in the very graveyard which her kid brother is buried where she steals her first book. When she arrived at her foster parents house realizing she had to let go of the past and continune to live for the future. This show's how Liesel is becomeing more mature in her new home and adjusting to change.

Liesel is a book thief but in stealing her first books she doesn't know how to read. She is just learning from her papa and at school. As she learns to read she has a uncoditional love for books. The books are not just for her to enjoy but they help her as well. The books bring her new company, such as Frau Holtzapfel, Ilsa Hermann. Reading expands her knowledge of life she realizes many aspects of human behaviour, like what Hitler is actually doing to jews and what he has done to her family.

As human beings we all share on thing in common, we live. In a world that is not what we always want it to be, but a world that generations made it to be. Things don't always work out, but there's one thing we must do. That is to live. We grow, learn, love and hurt these are only some facts of life. We all learn differently and all know different things. We grow and change, we reach the point in our life called maturity. We learn from past present and strive for the future. Through the stages of life we reach the stage to be mature.
